Hua Hin is situated 250km south of Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand. In 1922, King Rama VII constructed Phra Patchawang Klai Kangwon (Far from Worries Palace) and Hua Hin was connect to the capital by rail. Since then Hua Hin has grown into a fovourite resort for both Thais and international tourists. Hua Hin together with Cha-am now have all the major hotel chains but still retain fishing village charm.
Hua Hin is popular for its beaches and is one of the best places in Thailand for kiteboarding. Hua Hin also has some of Thailand's best golf courses with over 8 local courses. Other activities include pony rides on the beach, go-karting and of course shopping. Hua Hin has modern shopping malls but its night markets are the place to shop.
Hua Hin is a food lover's paradise with restaurants offering cuisines from all over the world. There is something for everyone no matter what your budget is. There are the traditional Thai street stalls and a wide selection of European and other Asian restaurants. There is also a wide selection of bars and pubs. As a treat one can always dine in one of the 5 star hotels. Hua Hin also has supermarkets that sell your favourites from home.
